Our Program

Ballard High School Girls Lacrosse Club is a NO-CUT athletic opportunity for athletes attending BHS or living in the BHS reference area if their school does not have a women’s lacrosse team. The BHS Girls Lacrosse Club espouses the basic values of sportsmanship, respect and healthy competition and prioritizes the growth and development of its players.

The Ballard Girls’ Lacrosse Club (BGLC) plays in the Metro Conference of the Washington Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association of high school lacrosse teams (www.wslax.org). The program fields a Varsity and a JV team and is organized as an ASB Club at Ballard.

Head Coach: Rachel Moody | Board President: Carolyn Sherman | Board President Elect: Amanda McGarty

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the fees for the season?
  • BGLC does not receive any financial support from Ballard High School or the school district.  Instead, the club is funded by player fees, proceeds from the BHS Foundation’s Annual golf classic fundraiser, and donations. (Fees not set yet for 2025.)
    • Early bird registration fees for the season are $550 through 1/31/24.  STARTING 2/1/24 FEE $600.
    • Full refund until 2/23/24, 50% refund 2/24/24 – 3/3/24.  NO REFUNDS WILL BE GRANTED STARTING 3/4/24.
    • Players must also join or renew a US Lacrosse (www.uslacrosse.org) membership; the cost is $35.00 for one year—this provides our club’s liability and player insurance.  We cannot waive or fund this fee.  This is a mandatory requirement.
  • The fees help pay for game officials, coaching costs, league dues, uniforms and team equipment. There will be no refunds based on a player’s team assignment. Please note that NO ONE will be turned away by inability to pay fees, acquire equipment, etc.  Please contact team club president Carolyn Sherman regarding scholarships.
What equipment do I need?

Players will need to provide running shoes, cleats, colored mouth guards, a lacrosse stick and protective eyewear.  The club has a limited number of loaner sticks and other equipment that can be checked out for new players.  The team uniform will consist of a jersey, kilt (skirt) and socks. Use of the team uniform is included in the registration fees.  At the end of the season the jerseys and kilts will be collected and laundered for use the following year. If you need assistance with equipment (sticks, goggles, and mouthguards) —please contact Carolyn Sherman (cshe68@comcast.net).
